Observations from the Giants’ training camp practice on Friday.
TE Evan Engram was part of the walk-through – no live-tempo periods – after spending one practice in the side group with rehabbing players. The Giants can’t afford another injury to an offensive playmaker, and it appears Engram’s ailment wasn’t serious.
Knee(d) To Be Careful
Rookie OLB Azeez Ojulari was in the walk-through but appears to be on a pitch count after a minor setback earlier this week. He slipped in the draft because of knee injury history, and coach Joe Judge said, “we’ve talked to his college coaches and trainers and understood how they were able to manage him to a degree.”
Caught my eye
DL Dexter Lawrence and backup RT Jake Burton scuffled during an 11-on-11 walkthrough period, but teammates were quick to break it up before it escalated to a brawl. “We’re just out there getting better, challenging each other – just like I do with everybody else,” Lawrence said.
These players ran the sideline with trainers (often in pairs) or stood around and watched: WRs Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, John Ross and Austin Mack, CBs Aaron Robinson, Adoree Jackson and Justin Jackson, DT Danny Shelton, OG Shane Lemieux and OLB Elerson Smith.
