You better work, Jeopardy! The beloved game show is still searching for Alex Trebek’s permanent replacement after the whole Mike Richards debacle, and thankfully a certain RuPaul’s Drag Race host is ready to take on the gig.
“Sources say a show is now looking for someone with poise, authority, and natural intelligence,” Ru said. “In gayer news: I’m right here, bitch!”
Mama Ru may have been joking, but he and Jeopardy! have history — Trebek himself appeared on an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2018. It’s no secret that Ru has plenty of TV expertise, with eight Emmy Awards to his name — five for hosting and three for producing Drag Race. He also hosted the game show Gay for Play, which ran for two seasons on Logo. All the signs are there!
Richards, who’s still an Executive Producer on Jeopardy!, stepped down as host on August 20, after filming just five episodes of the game show. The news came after past lawsuits of Richards’s alleged harassment and discrimination on The Price As Right resurfaced, as well as several derogatory comments he’d made about women, the disabled community, and Jewish people on a 2013 podcast.
Jeopardy! later announced they would be re-instating guest hosts for Season 39, with Mayim Bialik — who’s also set to host the show’s spin-offs and primetime specials — first in line. In the meantime, a certain queen is ready to take the podium.
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c.
